The Fundació Escola Internacional del Camp is increasing the number of student grants from the next school year with support for Secondary students. There will be a range of grants covering part or the totality of school fees, for new students from outside the EIC who wish to join the school to continue their studies but who would struggle to afford the fees. The candidates for these awards may come from anywhere in the region and should make known their interest before the end of July, annually. The academic profile is important but not the only factor. Enthusiasm, innovation, an open mind, responsibility for their own education and commitment to add value to the life of the school and its community are key values which will be taken into considerations well as the family support for the student.
These grants are additional to the range of grants and financial support packages which are already on offer:
-Joan Gumà Excellence Award: this is an annual grant which is awarded to the “Best Student” of the School (based on academic results as well as personal qualities and attitude) in the last term of the year to cover the fees of the following year.
Nominations are made by staff who assess students eligible for this grant, followed by recommendations from the Awards Committee where Governors and the Gumà family are also represented.
-Esteve Blasi Award: this is a grant which is aimed at students outside the EIC but in exceptional cases could be for students from the School who have completed ESO 4 and display talent, motivation and the right attitude towards their studies, but may be limited financially in terms of accessing these two years of studies before stepping up to university, and wish to follow BAT (national) or IB (International Baccalaureate) at EIC. The award is made annually and covers the full academic fees for the student during the two years of Baccalaureate study.
Students who are eligible for this award will have applied during the year and will be assessed in July by the Awards Committee where Governors and the Blasi family are also represented.
-Sòcrates Educa Awards:
-Sòcrates Educa Awards for a student in Science, Mathematics or Technology: this award aims to stimulate interest in student research, experimentation and study in Science, Mathematics or Technology, not just for the student with the best academic profile but also for an innovator who is open minded and who gets involved. Students who are candidates for this award will be form ESO and BAT 1 at EIC who apply with a portfolio of school work and reports which are assessed by teachers and then also by the Awards Committee and finally by the family donating the grant who make the final decision. The award is a grant for the total value of school fees for the following academic year and is made annually.
-Sòcrates Educa Award for Excellent Teaching: the aim of this award for teachers is to recognise , promote and incentivise excellent practice in l’Escola Internacional del Camp at any level and in any curriculum area.
-Sòcrates Educa Prize for Excellence in teaching in Mathematics / Science / Technology: the aim of this award for teachers is to recognise, promote and incentivise excellent practice in the classroom at l’Escola Internacional del Camp at any level, focusing specifically on Mathematics, Science and Technology.
-FEIC Grants: independently from the programme of awards promoted by the Foundation, we also aim to extend the range of support available through Governors, families, businesses and other organisations who commit their support to helping students through these student awards which are made in a less public, more anonymous way. These top up grants are made to families in need at any time of the year. In order to be in a position to do this, the Foundation works all year round to raise money and distributes it with the approval of Governors as and when there is a justified need, always on an anonymous basis and in strict confidentiality. In this way, a range of students have already received support during the first 4 years of the EIC. The Foundation attributes these awards annually and throughout the school year on a case by case basis and according to need, depending on its means at any given time. An important source of income for these awards is donations from businesses, individuals and institutions as well as the funds raised at the FEIC Nit del Mecenatge dinner and entertainment evening which is organised annually at the EIC and gathers together the educational community in general as well as specially invited guests.
